Welcome to
Sydney Telugu Website

Telugu Association Inc Sydney, popularly known as Sydney Telugu Association (STA) was established in the year 1993 by a group of enthusiastic and service oriented people. STA celebrated its first Ugadi festival in March 1993. Ever since, STA has grown year after year due to the relentless efforts and continued support of many dedicated families and volunteers. Over these years STA has progressed because of the toil of many predecessors. Today STA stands at a respectable position and is widely acknowledged as a highly disciplined and professionally run community Associations in Australia. The annual and life membership of STA has been growing continuously. The current executive committee takes pride in representing this Association. We wish to contribute to further the STA objectives and take it to new heights.

STA celebrates Ugadi and Deepavali, the two main festivals, with an objective to foster the community spirit among Telugu families in Sydney and to nurture Telugu language, our culture and traditions. These celebrations are attended by a large proportion of the Telugu Community. We encourage new migrants and students to take part in the community activities to involve them with the wider community. The STA organizes Sports Day every year where a cricket match is held between two Telugu youth teams. The main objective is to encourage the youth to take active part in community events.

By becoming a Life / Annual member you will be able to take more active part in the association activities and can participate in broadcasting Telugu Radio and also be a member of the Executive body. Sydney Telugu Association has become an indispensable community forum to help those in need of help, advice or any support. Please come forward register with us and join as members and take an active part in the Association activities.

Proud achievements and activities of Sydney Telugu Association are

  • Weekend Telugu Schools for youth and children - Vidyalayam
  • A very popular community weekly radio program in Telugu now streamed on net - Vani
  • A quarterly literary publication in Telugu - Vahini
  • A well designed & maintained Website to mirror our activities to the world - sydneytelugu.org
  • A women's forum to address the needs and welfare of women - Vanitamadali

These activities and cultural events enable our children to learn about our culture and language also to express their creativity and talent.
Over these years STA has invited and felicitated several well known personalities, actors and artists from India who have contributed to the Telugu language and culture.

STA is also affiliated to the apex Indian organizations in Sydney and supports the wider Indian community's initiatives.
